Celebrate Pride Month on a budget: free and affordable events in your area

Take part in Pride Month this year with some events happening your area.

As June approaches, so does Pride Month, a time when communities around the world come together to celebrate diversity, acceptance, and equality. If you’re looking for affordable ways to celebrate pride this year, here are some parades, parties, educational talks and events happening your area. 

Parades and festivals 

Cirencester Pride

Coming up soon on 8 June, Cirencester is hosting its annual Pride Parade at Abbey Ground Park. The free event has a lineup of some amazing artists, local food and drink vendors, and a funfair. To keep costs down, they also welcome attendees to bring their own food and non-alcoholic drinks.  

Chippenham Pride 

Just a week later, on 15 June, you will find Chippenham hosting their own Pride. For free, you can join the walk to the festival, where you can find Madonna Tribute performances, as well as educational talks from local support groups. With something for everyone, this is a great way to get out and take part in the celebrations.  

Bristol Pride Parade 

Taking place on 13 July, the free parade and event is a great way to get involved in the celebrations. Not only does Bristol host one of the largest pride parades in the country, there are plenty of events leading up to the grand finale. Including, a dog show (£2 entry per round) where you can meet fellow dog lovers and cheer on your favourite pup, or a LGBT+ event held by DTYM at The Pheonix, with tickets starting at £7. Poole Pride events 

Lighthouse in Poole is hosting a variety of Pride events on 8 June. The free events include a Cabaret show, an LGBT+ inclusive story time for children and their families (with some fun crafts involved), and what’s sure to be a moving poetry slam. There are plenty more events, and while they are free, make sure to book your spots in advance! 

Clevedon Community Pride Event 

For the first time ever, The North Somerset LGBT+ Forum and The Old Inn Clevedon are hosting the first ever Clevedon Community Pride event. On 29 June, you can head down to The Old Inn Clevedon to enjoy stalls, family-friendly activities and entertainment and simply have a drink with like-minded allies. The event is free and starts at 12pm.  

The Holburne Museum- Bath 

There is a great line up at this years Holburne Pride event. Spanning across two days (14 and 15 June), the museum is hosting a variety of free and paid events in support of the LGBT+ community. The events range from educational talks, arts and crafts, and film screenings. Make sure to book your spot before tickets sell out. 

Gloucester Library- Pride Month Celebration 

On 8 June, Gloucester Library is hosting a creative arts event, where ‘you’ll work collaboratively with inter-disciplinary artists to produce a piece of artwork (representing one of the colours of the LGBTQ flag) that encapsulates themes of love, queerness, self-expression, identity and experiences of the LGBTQ community’. This inclusive event is free for those who register and is a great way to learn more about and support the LGBT+ community. 

Community Campfire- Bristol 

Organised by Avon Wildlife Trust, the community campfire takes place on 27 June. Head down to Grow Wilder for a campfire and take part in talks with guest speakers. The event ‘aims to cultivate a safe queer space for LGBT+ folks and allies to explore themes around the intersections of nature, community, and identity’. The free event involves
