More information on our growth and change of name
In September 2020, members agreed to the extension of our member area. Following on from that, Bristol Credit Union completed a merger with Wyvern Credit Union; and then in March this year we held a Special General Meeting at which 100% of members taking part agreed a new name to reflect our new wider area of service.
And so, we are thrilled to formally announce that Bristol Credit Union is now Great Western Credit Union, serving Bristol, Bath, Dorset, Wiltshire, Somerset and Gloucestershire.
What this means for members and partnersBy operating a larger credit union, across much of the South West, we can bring even more of us together as members which helps to share fixed costs such as administration and regulation between more of us. We can then focus more resources on developing the services we provide and on growth, which is good for us all as we build a greater credit union together.
What you need to do as a memberIf you are already registered on the new member portal (launched in November 2020) then you don’t need to do anything. We will ensure all members’ records are transferred to the new site and you can log in, at any time, as you always do.
If you haven’t already registered onto the member portal (since November 2020) then please do so as soon as you can. It really is the best way to manage your accounts and your membership.
What you need to do as a partner
Please update your records and systems with our new name and help us spread the news across your organisation and perhaps mention it in any newsletters that you issue.
Enhanced digital servicesOur email addresses have also changed. Please save new emails to your contact lists or address books to prevent our messages ending up in your spam folder.
As always, we continually consider and make improvements to our services, and we're working on further enhancements to services available in the member portal.
