Free and affordable ways to celebrate pride across the South West

Pride is about community, visibility and belonging. It's a chance to come together and support one another.

Across the South West, there are plenty of ways to get involved this summer. From local marches and festivals to arts, culture and family-friendly events, many of them are free or low cost. That makes it easier for everyone to take part, spend time together and celebrate without worrying about the cost.

Whether you are heading out with family, meeting friends or going along on your own, here are some ways to get involved.

Bristol

Bristol Pride – 11 July
Bristol Pride is one of the biggest celebrations in the region, bringing people together from across the South West.

It is more than just one day. There are two weeks of events leading up to it, starting from 26 June. You will find live music, workshops, comedy, theatre and community spaces, with plenty of family-friendly activities too. Many events are free, making it easy to take part and feel part of something bigger.

Queer Vision film festival
If you prefer something a bit more laid back, the Queer Vision Film Festival is a great option. It showcases a mix of films from new local filmmakers through to well-known classics. Tickets are affordable, starting from around £8.

LGBTQ+ history walk
For something different, you can join a guided history walk exploring Bristol’s LGBTQ+ past. It is a chance to learn more about the people and stories that have shaped the city over hundreds of years. There is a suggested donation of around £5, helping support local organisations.

Bath

Bath Pride – 22 August
Bath Pride offers a welcoming, family-friendly day out. The celebrations begin with a march through the city and continue in Sydney Gardens with Pride in the Park.

There is live entertainment, activities for children, and space to relax and enjoy time together. It is a great way to connect with others and be part of a supportive community.

Queer Bath – throughout June
Queer Bath brings together local museums, galleries and community spaces to celebrate LGBTQ+ culture and history.

Across the month, you can take part in exhibitions, talks and workshops. There are also activities designed for families, making it a great way to learn something new together.

Swindon and Wiltshire

Swindon and Wiltshire Pride – 15 August
This is one of the largest Pride events in the area and offers a full day of free activities.

The day starts with a community march and continues in GWR Park, where you will find live performances, local groups and family activities. It is a brilliant example of people coming together to celebrate inclusion and support one another.

Gloucestershire

Pride in Gloucestershire
Pride in Gloucestershire has grown into a big community event with something for everyone.

You will find spaces designed for families, alongside talks, activities and opportunities to meet others. There are also funfair rides, entertainment for children and a wide range of community groups and organisations to connect with.

It is a welcoming event that reflects the strong sense of community across the county.

Pride is for everyone

One of the best things about Pride in the South West is how rooted it is in community. Many events are free to attend, making it easier for more people to take part.

Whether you're joining a march, learning something new, supporting local organisations or simply spending time with people you care about, Pride is about connection, feeling supported and part of something.

At Great Western Credit Union, we are proud to serve diverse communities across the South West and we believe in creating a place where everyone feels welcome and supported.

However you choose to celebrate, we hope you find a way that feels right for you.Â
