How to Apply for a Credit Union Loan

We offer loans from £100 to £15,000, subject to status. Our credit union rates are fixed and depend on the amount you are asking to borrow.

To apply for a Great Western Credit Union loan, you need to meet the following criteria: 

  • Age 18+ and live, work or study in the Bristol and Bath region, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset or Dorset
  • Or you're a UNITE and UNISON member from the South-West, or a tenant of one of our partner housing associations 
  • You have enough disposable income to meet the loan repayments 

You'll need an email address and mobile number to start your loan application. Make sure you also have your National Insurance number, income details and bank details handy, plus proof of identity. Find out more about how to upload ID Documents.
