Half term ideas for February 2022

Activities to keep young minds engaged

February half term is, more often than not, a challenge. It’s still quite dark and we can usually expect rain. This year’s back-to-back storms are different but not really surprising. If the weather where you are is wet and cloudy, take heart - children look forward to spending this time doing things they usually wouldn’t have the chance to on a school day. Three ideas from the kids themselves:

  • cuddling under a blanket and watching a tv show or film
  • baking cakes and cookies
  • playing board games with family and drinking hot chocolate

If you’re lucky enough to have some good weather, brave the chill and go outside. Here’s a list of activities that caught our eye.

Life in the Universe 3D at We The Curious

Fly to distant worlds, learn how astronomers search for planets, and debate whether humans are ready to meet aliens. How the show ends depends on what you decide! Tickets cost £3.50 for non-members and shows last 30 minutes. More information is available on their website

Percy the Park Keeper's winter wander trail at Lacock

Join Percy and his animal friends and give nature a helping hand whilst exploring the beautiful grounds of Lacock Abbey. The trail costs £2 and can be purchased from visitor reception between 11.30am and 3.30pm.

The Amazing Bubble Man

Louis Pearl combines comedy and artistry with audience participation to keep everyone mesmerised. An Edinburgh Fringe favourite, he has sold out there for the last twelve years. Louis will be at the Lighthouse Theatre, Poole on February 23rd and at Swindon Arts Centre on February 27th.
